consulting in two areas; one, using over 17 years
of experience to do heir research for the Province
of Ontario, as well as private genealogical consulting.
The second area is using my years of experience
with Cobol and the Optical industry to do analysis
and Cobol programming for Optical Software in
Moncton, N.B.

As Director of Product Development, I am responsible
for the design, development and testing of all software
products, supervising a team of four full time and
one part-time programmers. The product is developed
in the Dos/Windows environment on the Intel class
of Pcs, in a combination of Cobol, Basic and C routines.
Applications included Accounts Receivable, Inventory
Control, Order Entry, and various functions specific
to the optical manufacturing industry. On-site installation
and training of personnel, as well as participation
in industry trade shows are also required.
Previous work periods (1985 to 1990) involved work
on the same project, first as a junior and later
as an intermediate-level programmer.

Duties included the analysis and implementation
of system solutions for clients, running on PC-Based
single and multi-user environments. Solutions
were designed around RealWorld Accounting Software,
a Cobol-based accounting system for the PC world,
based on DOS, Novell, and Xenix/Unix platforms.
My responsibilities included analysis of requirements,
quotations on same, and implementation of custom
changes. This work was carried out by a team of
4 programmers (including myself) under my supervision.
These responsibilities also included the testing,
maintenance and support phases of development.
Occasional training was also sometimes required
of my position.
